Immersion Blender Reviews

There are two main types of blenders; countertop and immersion blenders.  Here we are looking at immersion blender reviews and what benefits these products could offer you in your kitchen.

Why an Immersion Blender?

An immersion blender is a handheld devices shaped a little like a wand which has the blender blades at the bottom which was invented by a man named Roger Perrinjaquet in Switzerland in 1950.

They are also known as wand or stick blenders.

One of the main benefits of them is that you can blend in almost any container instead of just the particular ones provided as with the countertop blenders.  It also means that larger quantities of food can be blended at one time, as larger bowls or pans can be used.  They are also able to blend hot liquids such as soup straight into the pan.

Immersion blenders come in a wide variety though typically have 100 or 200 watt motors and some of them have extra attachments for grinding, chopping or whisking.  Some models can process foods such as cooked meats, potatoes and vegetables and can make drinks such as smoothies.

Another advantage of them is as long as you have a power outlet and a bowl; you can use them anywhere, and they are smaller and easier to transport than a countertop blender.

Here is a small selection of models available to give you an idea where to start in your hunt.

High End

Breville BSB510XL Control grip Immersion blender

The Breville Immersion Blender features a new bell-shaped base as well as internal ribbing for more control over efficient blending and reducing suction at the bottom of the cup.  It also causes a turbulence effect which forces the food onto the blades.

The ergonomic control grip has trigger operation for ease of use and can be immersed up to 8 inches in tall pots.  The storage lid also doubled as a non-slip base for the jug.

The blender features 15 adjustable speeding settings to suit the task while the base of the container has a non-scratch base.  It runs on a 280 watt motor and has stainless steel blades which can cut through even ice and raw vegetables.

The set also comes with a whisk attachment which is ideal for light batters or creaming in addition to the blending jug and chopping bowl.  The bowl can store inside the jug for minimalizing space and the elements can all be cleaned in the dishwasher.

The blender operates on a 200 watt motor, and the stainless steel blade and blade guard can blend most anything and avoids splashing.  It detaches from the main unit with a release button on the back of the unit and can be cleaned in the dishwasher.  The main unit can be cleaned with just a damp cloth.
